Ethereal's life was always a peculiar one, especially since her hatching. No one knows how she hatched from two mortal nightwings, not even herself, yet here she was, a walking goddess among dragons. Literally. She tried not to think about it too much. Other entities like her, always tried to invite her to join their pantheons, but she never felt a need. Especially with all the warring they would do against each other, always endlessly bitter over incidents that happened since before kingdoms. Jealous things, the gods.
She found herself better as a Warden of Dreams, a protector against nightmares and fears. To also grant some mortals with divine dreams of important visions. Her own way of shielding dragonkind from the many things that wished them harm. She had three main 'Foes'
One was already seen as an outcast among the other gods, and was just disliked for existing, and the threat of his existence. He wasn't necessarily evil, but the things that roamed around him and in his domain definitely weren't friendly, and attacked via the mind. Her own minions were generally always in combat against them.
The other was a generally pleasant person in unfortunate circumstance, but had to do a lesser evil to stop a greater one. It made good tea as well, something she always kept in mind in her encounters. Typically all she had to do was ask for it to leave, and it would do so. Normally off to this world of black of sands. As a god, few things made her feel fear. That place was one of them. The intrinsic knowledge of she entered that place, she would never leave again, only to be consumed by the pitch grains of sand.
The third wasn't really a person or god. It just was; a force more than anything individual. A collection of entities that would feed off fear in the hopes of becoming corporeal and finally being able to feast off mortals in a more tangible way. Only twice has she let one get to the point of physical manifestation. She shuddered to remember the casualties. Thankfully, they were quite weak in their beginning stages.
When she wasn't engaging with this trio, she would wander about, enjoying the sights of the world. Sometimes she would get visions, but she would so her best to absolve them before they became any real danger. Or grant mortals she liked in particular special enchanted objects, being a divine dragon had its perks, after all. If she was really bored, she'd join one of the Dreamers, a special sort of dragon with dreams so incredibly vivid and unique they brushed against worlds not quite their own.
Ethereal would make sure they didn't stray to far, and to guide them back to safety, a beacon in the darkness of the unknown.
"And this is why it's perfectly okay for you to just invade my dreams?"
"Yes." Ethereal was currently explaining what she did for a well... living? She didn't quite know what else to call it-. The dragon she was spouting this off too, just gazed at her with a raised eyebrow.
"Uh huhhhhh. Couldn't you like, go visit someone's else dreams?"
"But I like yours~"
"That's totally not creepy in any manner"
"Hey, I will smite you,"
"Please do. I'd prefer it over the knowledge that you've seen my dreams."
"I've seen far worse, not sure why you're making such a big deal about it."
"There's this funny little concept, Miss Ethereal Goddess Lady, called P r i v a c y." He made an arc-ing motion with his claws.
"Now if you wouldn't mind, could ya leave? I'm in the middle of something..."
"Fine fine." Ethereal's fun was over, and she left the poor guy's dream without much fuss.
Well time to tell the next dragon she dream-visited all about it.
She had to entertain herself somehow.
