Oracle wrapped the blindfold tightly around her 'eyes', the soft cloth layering up. She quickly tied the ends together, resulting in a snug fit around her head. The seller told her the color was a deep rich purple, but she couldn't really tell for herself. While she lacked eyes, she wasn't blind in the traditional sense. Everything was outlined in a framework of dark blue to her, a bubble she could sense all within, but never outside it.
Her trio of helpers ambled by, out of sight to normal dragons as Oracle got ready. She rubbed at her skull, feeling the hard horns and smooth scales. Through the blindfold, she poked at her 'eyes' with her claw. Instead of squishy give, it was like tapping a wall. Solid. Pearls replaced her eyes. Just thinking about it already got them to burn as she remembered how she gained these new eyes.
Due to her nature, she was able to navigate even without have to pay much attention to her path. It made not bumping into dragons or objects much easier, though she still occasionally walked with either a cane or one of her claws out. Dragons tended to get suspicious when a blindfolded seawing is able to walk around without any problem.
She took a few deep breaths as she walked out of the kindly offered treehut the rainwings gifted her to stay out during her visitation to the rainforest. She forced herself to not pause and continue on once the sheer amount of dragons kicked in. Each individual made ripples, some larger or smaller than others, but all had even the tiniest of impact on the potential futures. It was always overwhelming, but Oracle learned quickly to ignore the unfolding web of timelines within her mind, each an imprint of what could come to pass. Already a minor headache was forming.
Each dragon was also a raging bonfire of life and energy, vibrant with soulfire as Oracle called it. Outlines of a dragon with a core of emotions in the center, near the heart. Oracle could hardly tell expressions, and relied on the ability to see the emotions themselves to use a cues.
As she walked, she could feel the gazes of dragons. Some held senses of pity, some curiosity. She ignored them all. She had an impromptu meeting to attend
Finally she was at the little meeting spot, with two nightwings already there. Her trio of invisible helpers flittered around the duo of figures, gazing them from all angles. One was larger than the other, and had a feeling of worn-dorn about them. The smaller was more sleek, and slightly younger. Both were adults.
"Hello ma'am-"
"I kindly request you don't call me ma'am. Just Oracle is preferred."
"Okay ma- Oracle. Well, seeing how you are here, I assume you know the basics of the purpose for this meetings?"
"Your friend wants me to find his daughter. You just want proof."
Both nightwings took a pause, freezing in place for a split second.
"Ah. You actually do know. It was my own failings of underestimating your information collection abilities." The larger one bowed their head slightly. They seemed almost disappointed that they didn't get to explain. Oracle took note of his rather gravelly and wandering voice, keeping it in memory. She couldn't recognize faces very well, but she could voices. Unfortunately for Oracle, almost every possibility showed that the larger nightwing will continue to speak like this, instead of getting straight to the point.
"Well, continuing on, my fellow indeed would like to know if you will-"
"Your 'fellow' has tried to kill me 17 times."
The smaller nightwing winced at the statement.
"You seem very alive and well, so could you let bygones be bygones? He is an assassin after all, and never held a personal grudge against you."
"Mmm."
"Look, Oracle, we need your help. You have shown yourself to be incredibly resourceful and intelligent-" The larger nightwing was cut off once more Oracle was able to see where the conversation was headed.
"I'll consider teaching your prophet student. As for now, regarding your assassin's friend missing daughter, I'd suggest checking the swamps. You'll also be with the new she is alive."
With her words, she could 'see' the inner emotions of the smaller dragon flood to relief.
"So you do have precognitive abilities... how?"
"Pain. Lots of it."
"Oh, uh..." The nightwing shuffled in place, awkwardly bumbling about with their claw.
"We can discuss me teaching your pupil in the next meeting."
"Of course, of course"
The nightwings seemed somewhat beside themselves as they got to moving, discussing something between the two of them. Oracle slumped a bit internally. While she appeared self confident, she was something of an introvert with just slight social anxiety. Even knowing for the most part what to say didn't really help.
Oracle sighed, and began travelling back.
Unfortunately, she couldn't tell if the missing daughter was dead or alive yet.
One could only hope they find her in time.
